Gator rescue

A friend at work was outside and called me to say there was a truck with “Nuisance Alligator Trapper” on it in the parking lot. I ran out to my car and grabbed my camera. There’s a couple large gators in the big pond but they weren’t here for them. The lawn crew had spotted a small gator with something caught around its’ neck. It turned out to be a steel cable that was used to make a snare and it was tangled up in the weeds and cutting in to the gators neck. The cable was cutting in to the gators neck pretty wide and deep all the way around. They freed it and took it away. They said it wouldn’t live and they’d put it down but the lady emailed later and said she found a place that would take it and nurse it back to health. [Click photos to view larger]

Lightning Camaro

A friend at work named Chuck wanted some shots of his new Camaro so we met last evening. Went where my other friend named Chuck had recently shot a car for a magazine cover. Good spot to get the water and the Sunshine Skyway in the background. Got lucky with a storm and some lighting.

Pass-a-grille Florida Sunset

Pano from 7 frames.

Marina

Some lines securing a sailboat and the sunlight on the water. Came to shoot birds but shot this instead.

John trying to look evil

He was trying to look evil, and I was trying to doing something silly with those two lights. Got neither evil nor silly I think but I like it.

Zombie Art and Fashion Show

Got word from a friend that there was a zombie art show at Capricorn Studios in Ybor City last night. Went to see him and brought my camera and a strobe in case there was some cool shots to be had. I thought this lady looked pretty cool and asked if I could take her photo.

Pelican and cloud

Same night as the lightning photo but about an hour earlier. I was spotted this pelican sitting on a pylon. Got down on the ground so I could get the cool clouds as a background.

Zap!

After shooting some cool sunset light on the storm clouds I moved over to Demens Landing and got this shot last night. Had my camera rested on a handrail as I hadn’t planned on a needing my tripod. Got a little scary but it was pretty cool when the wind really picked up as the storm got closer. Click photo for a larger view.

Front porch sunrise

Little bit the sun makes it through the oaks to the east just at sunrise and hits the front porch when I’m leaving for work. Grabbed this shot with the G11 on macro mode.
